After graduating from the University of Kent at Canterbury, Vanessa spent a year working at Northampton Crown Court for the CPS before completing her law finals at the College of Law, York. She undertook her practical training with Argyles solicitors in Tamworth, Staffordshire and qualified in 1995. Vanessa remained with Argyles for a further 3 years in the litigation department covering crime, personal injury, commercial litigation and matrimonial work.
After a short career break to start a family, Vanessa taught legal practice at GLOSCAT before joining Nick Hutchinson & Co in 1999 to run the litigation department dealing with the the firm’s general litigation and family work.
Outside work Vanessa finds she has little time to pursue her own hobbies as she seems to spend most of her time as official taxi driver and social secretary for her two daughters, and carer for the family menagerie (currently, cats, guinea pigs and gerbil). However, whenever possible she likes to ride or swim, and has been known to occasionally venture into the gym. She is also trying to learn the clarinet.
